A traditional undergraduate online summer course at Roberts Wesleyan University takes place over a four-week period.  During this four-week period, you will be assigned work that equates to at least 40 hours of class time, plus additional outside work.  The assessments for each course are determined by the professor, but may include, online written discussion forums, research papers, selected readings, homework sets, exams, etc.  The format for each course is determined by the professor and noted on the Master Class Schedule.

  • IN-PERSON learning is the traditional way of learning, where students attend face-to-face classes at allotted times.
  • HYBRID course combines traditional face-to-face learning in the classroom with online learning that students complete outside of the classroom. The work that students complete online complements the information that is covered in the classroom.
  • ONLINE synchronous is a fully online course on the specified days and times (the time may be less than an in-person session, but the workload will be the same).
  • ONLINE asynchronous is a fully online course where you work through the material at your own pace and meet the deadlines.

The course may require daily work, or it may require weekly work. This four-week course requires the same amount of work as a course during the semester (15 weeks) but is condensed into four weeks.

Course Registration Details

  • Registration is open to any current or graduated college students as well as high school students going into their junior or senior year who are at least 16 years old.
  • Current Roberts students should register for summer classes using Self-Service.
  • Registration will be open through the start of summer classes or until all seats are filled.
  • Registration closes one week prior to the start of each session.
  • Payment is due by the registration deadline.
  • Students who are enrolled in the summer course 5 business days prior to its start will be billed and no refunds will be processed.

Frequently Asked Questions

You may take up to 6 credits per summer session and an additional 1 credit for a lab.

You may complete a maximum of 12 credits over the whole summer.

Courses with low enrollment will be canceled 30 days prior to the start of each summer session. Cancellation of summer courses will take place on:

  • April 14th (Session 1)
  • May 17th (Session 2)
  • June 14th (Session 3)
